Daylore ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and where the boundaries are when AI features are involved.
Your journal exists to serve your own memory and reflection, not an advertising system.
Your content may be processed to generate your personal features, but it is not used to train public AI models.
You can disconnect optional sources, delete your data, and contact us directly with privacy requests.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including: • Daily journal entries (text, voice recordings, photos) • Account information (email address) • Health data from Apple Health (steps, sleep) — only with your explicit permission • Connected service data (Google Calendar events, Spotify listening history, Strava activities) — only when you authorize these integrations • Device information (device type, OS version, app version) for analytics and crash reporting
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: • Provide and personalize the Daylore experience • Generate AI-powered insights, summaries, and analysis from your journal entries • Send daily insight push notifications (if you opt in) • Process subscription payments via Apple In-App Purchase • Improve app performance and fix issues • Respond to your support requests
3. AI Processing
Daylore uses AI services to analyze the content you create inside the app — your journal entries, the photos you upload, and your voice notes — to generate summaries, insights, and semantic search. This content is sent to our secure backend and, from there, to Google's Gemini API (Google's own AI service) for text, image, and audio understanding — including converting your voice notes to text. AI-generated insights are stored so we can provide your weekly and monthly summaries. We do not use your personal journal content to build or train our own public AI models.
Google Workspace data & Limited Use. Daylore's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We access Google Calendar with read-only permission (calendar.readonly) for the single purpose of displaying your own schedule back to you inside the app. Google Calendar data is stored only in our own systems, is never sold or transferred to third parties, and is never sent to, or used by, any AI/ML model — it is not included in AI prompts, is not used to generate insights, and is not used to train, fine-tune, or improve any model.
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure — journal text and account records in an encrypted database, photos and voice recordings in encrypted object storage, and content embeddings (used to power AI search) in a separate vector database. Voice recordings are transcribed to text, and the original audio is also kept so you can play it back later in the app. Your data is not stored in Apple iCloud.
5. Third-Party Services
We work with the following infrastructure and service providers, each processing data on our behalf under contractual safeguards, or subject to their own privacy policies when you connect them: • Cloud hosting & database (Tencent Cloud) — journal entries, account records • Object storage (Cloudflare R2) — photos and voice recordings • AI text, image & voice understanding (Google Gemini API) — summaries, insights, analysis, and voice-to-text transcription of the content you create in the app. Under Google's paid-tier API terms, your prompts and responses are not used to train or improve Google's models. Google Calendar data is never sent to this or any AI service. • Firebase (Google) — product analytics, identified only by an anonymous per-device ID, never by your account or journal content • Email delivery (Resend) — sends account verification emails and, if you request a data export, the email containing your export file • Apple Health — health and fitness data (iOS only, with your permission) • Google Calendar, Spotify, Strava — connected service data (optional, only when you authorize) • Apple In-App Purchase — subscription billing
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for product improvement purposes. We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
7. Health Data
Health data accessed from Apple Health is used solely to display your steps and sleep patterns within Daylore. This data is not shared with third parties, not used for advertising, and not sold. You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is scheduled for deletion within 30 days. You may request early deletion by contacting us. Subscription transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and tax compliance.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you • Correct inaccurate data • Delete your account and associated data • Export your journal entries • Withdraw consent for optional data collection (Health, connected services) To exercise these rights, contact us or use the account deletion option within the app.
10. Children's Privacy
Daylore is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Daylore after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
